I’ve been dying to tell you about my latest collaboration for ages, but my blog crashed (possibly hacked – argh!) and I’ve had to wait. Anyway, at last I can announce that I’ve teamed up with the very fabulous Strokeside Designs Rowing Jewellery, who (as their name suggests) make the most gorgeous jewellery for rowers. You first got a glimpse of it last Christmas when I included one of their silver necklaces in my Christmas gift guide for women rowers, having spotted their jewellery on the Rowperfect site and fallen in love with it. When the guys at Strokeside got in touch to see if I was interested in working with them I jumped at the chance.

There’s nothing cheesy about these designs; in fact you have to look quite closely to see that they are rowing designs at all. At first glance they’re just prettily-made pieces in silver, sometimes with a little flash of gold. But look more closely and you’ll see intricately-fashioned, tiny blades and rowing figures, cleverly woven into the jewellery.

I’m particularly taken with this macon blade ring, not just because I have a nostalgic hankering for the oars of my student days but because they are a beautiful design and I love the gold “collar” – such a great touch – and the blade earrings go well with them.

In case you consort with canoeists or kayakers (don’t worry, I won’t tell), they also do designs for these, and they can customise designs to show your club colours if you give them enough notice. They have a range of men’s products like cufflinks, tie clips, keyrings and even a tie with a rowing design.

All of the jewellery comes in a grey card box with the Strokeside logo on it, appropriately in silver. They’re remarkably good value: the stud earrings and the ring are each $29.99 USD and they will be offering free shipping to the UK before Christmas. If that’s not exciting enough, you can get 15% off if you quote GIRLONTHERIVER when you check out. Hurrah! You can also find Strokeside Designs on Rowperfect’s gift section here (though you won’t get the discount there, I’m afraid).

In the interests of full disclosure, I’m more than happy to explain my interest in all of this. I’m not being paid anything to promote Strokeside Designs, though they did kindly give me the ring and earrings. I mostly just love the products and wanted you to share some of the love. Mwah!
